Meet Tony Ortega, The Demagogue’s Demagogue

Demagoguery is a manipulative approach — often associated with dictators and sleazy politicians (or “journalists”) — that appeals to the worst nature of people. DEMAGOGUERY ISN’T BASED ON REASON, ISSUES, OR DOING THE RIGHT THING; IT’S BASED ON STIRRING UP FEAR AND HATRED TO CONTROL PEOPLE. For example, a journalist who stirs up a fear to distract from other issues is using demagoguery. Demagoguery is one of the most negative aspects of journalism (not to mention politics), but it’s also one that’s all too common.

And these are great times to be a demagogue.

Tony Ortega must be loving this current political climate; its news cycles filled with propaganda, opinions presented as unchallengeable fact, and the always ubiquitous ‘fake news’.

There is no doubt that Tony Ortega uses demagoguery. Absolutely none at all. In Ortega’s campaign of demagoguery he often even implies that the only people who are disagreeing with him are males. It’s a total sexist approach used to divide people with emotional button pushing, capitalizing on growing resentments between people with differing perspectives.

On this point there is no question. It’s Ortega’s underlying moral philosophy, the “good” that he is trying to achieve for all mankind — namely, his self-styled atheism— which he uses to justify his demagoguery.

And it’s not just him, Ortega surrounds himself with those who would echo and magnify his demagoguery. This is one of the main reasons he is so desperate for every 15 minutes of fame he can get.

Tony Ortega goes to great lengths to try and convince his readers he’s a credentialed journalist. But facts are a stubborn thing and no amount of self-generated hype can alter this simple stubborn reality — Tony Ortega is a demagogue and has always been one.
