Schadenfreude is the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of others.

It’s a complex negative emotion. Rather than feeling sympathy towards someone’s misfortune, schadenfreude evokes joyful feelings that take pleasure from watching harm come to someone. While research suggests his emotion is displayed more in children than adults, some adults also experience schadenfreude, they are just usually better at concealing their expressions.

Not so with Tony Ortega. Every negative scrap of information he can glean from his vultures (or unearth by less ethical means) which showcases some hurt or pain experienced by his enemies, Ortega seems to revel in.

Over on Tony Ortega’s blog (the only site on the Internet that will print his drivel these days) he steers the discussion toward hate, discrimination and religious intolerance which resulted in threats, murder and vandalism against the religion.

We have known for some time that Tony Ortega is devoid of decency and basic human empathy but honestly this new lows surprised even us.

The deep underlying truth about Tony Ortega can tragically be applied to numerous Jane Doe’s who have suffered at the hands of the Backpage, the one-time market leader for online human trafficking which Ortega vociferously publicly defended time and time again.

Some who have survived this evil have filed litigation against the actors behind the scenes who built and maintained this platform. We who have read through numerous pages of court documents detailing the suffering these women endured find some hope that those responsible will be brought to justice.

Though each case is different, all the complaints posses three common themes:

1) These unnamed women were pimped out for profit.

2) They suffered at the hands of their pimps and enablers.

3) The pimps and enablers acted with full knowledge of their crimes.

Though Backpage has been since shuttered by Federal Authorities, and its apologists for the moment silenced, every Jane Doe behind every legal battle waits in hopeful expectation.

Do you think Ortega has been reporting about these tragedies and destroyed lives? No he didn’t.

Class act as always, Tony Ortega.
